This is a repost of a painting posted a week or so ago.  I hung it in the kitchen and realized over the week, whilst chopping onions and other kitchen tasks, that the painting wasnt quite "right" so by casually glancing at it over the week, i solved some painting problems.  Definitly a case of paying attention, by not paying attention.  I find the last 5 - 10% often the most challenging and have devised all kinds of tricks to "let it happen" rather than forcing...seems to work better and is much more pleasant.

Sellwood Yoga Studio and Paintings

Ever since discussing with owners of Sellwood Yoga putting paintings on their walls, I was excited.  Their space is so full of beautiful natural light and walls painted harmonious colours, perfect for paintings of the sea.  Hanging paintings on a coloured wall can really make them "pop"!

This piece actually was started a few weeks ago, I was after an abstraction in the light on shifting sandbars..and it took me some time to establish colour and approach, etc, but i think paved the way for the previously posted painting, Cowslips, San Juan, which more or less painted itself.   This piece is thickly painted using all manner of tools, brush, palette knife, rubber shapers, handle of my paintbrush etc.

Framed in White

Framed in White, Its been a while since posting on my blog, and still dont have any new pieces finished for posting, though many in the works!.  I have been experimenting with framing the mini 6" x 6" paintings, and have come up with a white frame.  I think it works particularly well with the Dune Series, the clean white beach feeling.
