Tidal Merge, 12" x 12", oil on canvas
Companion piece to the previous posting.
Back into the studio today, I took yesterday off as a bit burnt out, but reinspired by the creative goings on of some of my fellow Hornbyites, not so much about painting, but solar building design.  What that has to do with painting?   Hmm, I think to live life looking at, and participating of the natural world, rather than conquering it.  A celebration of it..Painting landscape for me is to re-experience the sea/sky/ weather, whatever it is i am working on at the moment.

Poppies and Blue

Poppies and Blue, 24" x 36", oil on canvas, sold
I have painted this view many times, it was inspired by my mother who planted poppies down by the sea..this was our view (well sort of, I take some license!) .  And so i keep returning to it.

Out on the Tide

Out on the Tide, 36" x 36", oil on canvas
I love the abstraction of sand and tidal pools..I thought of adding a  foreground, but changed my mind, I think if suggests a feeling of being there on the sand rather than looking out at a "scene"

Coastal

Coastal, 24" x 48" oil on canvas
This is my first "larger" oil painting since beginning with oil.   I have begun a new process of doing a mini painting first and then redoing in large format, as the slow drying time of oil requires a different approach than acrylic for me anyway.  Though of course going small to large is never that simple..one cannot just copy there own work., each piece requires a completely fresh approach.  ahh..the challenges of painting.
Also if any oil painters out there could recommend a good air purifyer that would be great.  I paint next to a wide open window and fan.  But it is cold and still damp out still and kind of unpleasant.

Follow Me Through

Follow Me Through, 6" x 6" oil on panel sold
Surf!  I blew up the photo for this to enhance the abstraction of the shapes of the wave and clouds..they seem to mirror each other in a sort of stripe.
